Bunnahabhain is probably the most under-rated Distillery on Islay , this little beaut was distilled in 1968 and bottled in 2002 . It is a classic Sherried Bunnahabhain…….
With an abv of 43.8% , this was a limited release of 2002 bottles , Deep amber going on Mahogany in colour , the nose is your typical Christmas Cake – cake dough , dried fruit , bags of sherry – there is also more than a hint of Bunnahabhain sweetness . A seriously superb sherry palate ! Beautiful mouthfeel , lots of dark fruits , sherry and cola cube sweets , very aromatic with spices . A lovely long sherry finish , with Christmas spices . This is possibly the most perfect sherried Bunnahabhain ever , if not one of the best sherried malts ever . Absolutely Beautiful , Bunnahabhain definitely had the perfect recipe of spirit and casks in the 60’s to produce such stunning aged examples of whisky , if i scored it would be in the mid to very high 90’s…..
