Islay Whisky Classics No.25 – Bunnahabhain 18yo (46.3%)

The 18yo from Bunnahabhain has always been one of my favourites , there’s something special about aged Bunnahabhain  and when they took it up to 46.3% abv the moved it up another level !

Bunnahabhain 18yo 46.3%

The 18 (or XVIII if you prefer….) is a bright amber colour in the glass , from the colour you would immediately assume it’s going to be heavily sherried , it’s not , it has a quite light sherry nose , it is also sweet – Butterscotch – dried fruits , cake mix , Maritimey and also a touch of smoke ? The palate has more of a sherry touch to it , it’s very oily with spices , dried fruits and the Bunna Sweetness . The finish is lingering with a dryness , sherry and oak , Also a touch of spice and christmas cake . Absolutely outstanding !

A wonderful Bunnahabhain , a wonderful malt , slightly heavier than the 12 , i could drink this beaut all night !
