A special from the good folks at Bunnahabhain , this one has spent 12 years in traditional casks then a further 4 in Manzanilla Sherry Casks . Limited to 3792 bottles and in a striking silver packaging this was bottled at 53.2% abv .
Autumn Gold in colour , the nose is of fruit cake initially , quite dry , the sherry isn’t heavy , a sweetness – fudge rather than the usual Edinburgh Rock – and wine . Actually quite a really delightful nose . The palate has a very dry maltiness to it , dark chocolate , bitter orange , christmas spices , well balanced with the sherry , coats the palate wonderfully , The sherry doesn’t overwhelm the spirit . The finish is long , dry sherry , touch of cherry liqueur . It is really dry on the finish but not enough to spoil the dram .
A really , good well balanced Bunnahabhain , probably my favourite of the Finishes released so far . This was also available in a 10cl bottle pack with 2 glasses from the distillery .
